Help!

I can not use the editor from the 132 black background I see all the 4 views, I find it impossible to edit and create these conditions. Video card ATI Radeon HD 4650 with updated drivers.

What do I do? I paid for the opportunity to create maps for my community in Argentina and I can not do it.

Any help update or something to help me with this problem? Please!

    The black background is a known error which has been around for around 6 months.

    You can create your grid lines and geometry lines in to other colours to make it easier, to do go to Tools > Settings > Interface tab; change the "Edges", "Major + Minor Grid Lines" to suit.

    Currently props always show as black lines, although it's painful, it's still usable. We're still more than patiently waiting for a fix. Sorry I can't help you much more.

    I actually built a huge box around my level and used dev texture to mimic a grey back ground, it helps a bit but i'm growing to like the black background but it does hinder you from seeing if your faces are together but like thaldy said, change your line/point colors and you should be able to work easily.

    Try the box helps, but I miss the gray background.
    Why they changed it in the first place?
    It seems I'm not the only one who suffers from this problem ...

    It must be an error from the programmers side. There might have been an addition to one of the updates, and it made the background black.

    It was a fubar in one of the patches about six month ago as thaldy said, If memory serves me correct i think the black thumbnails in the texture browser came in that same build that broke.

    Rest assure, they have found the reason it's happening and they are working on a solution.

    Hey guys!

    i had no internet for 6 weeks, so i started ns mapping instead of ns gaming ;)

    i read the mapping guidelines, looked at some tutorials and watched some mapping vids on youtube

    but i still have some questions and i hope you can help me.

    1) power nodes - i created a power node entity and a trigger zone, but there is no "triggername" option when i select that power node. i saw a screenshot in the mapping guidelines in which there was that triggername, so i think its a bug, but im not sure, back in hl1 times there was this smartedit function...

    2) commander camera - i created a minimap and put one camera in my map and noticed that in commander mode, there is a fast change of height while moving around. so i checked out rockdown and saw that there is more than 1 camera. now every room has a commander cam and in those the commander mode works fine, but between the rooms, the view still jumps in height. in those rooms the camera is at a height of approx. 400 units, but between them it jump to approx. 10000 units! so, do i simply need more cameras? or is that some kind of bug. and if i only need more cameras, what is the minimal/ideal distance between commander cameras?

    3) i created a commanderinvisible group and it works fine for the ceiling and stuff, but when i place a structure with my mac(i already created some waypoints for them), it is built on top of the map. on my ceiling and out of reach...

    4) on psykomans great summit map, i saw some props that were either bent or cut. for example that railing in alien start. how do i do that? i havent found a tutorial on that

    i will upload some screenshots soon, hope you guys like them.

    Just make sure the powerpoint is inside of the trigger brush. Any Power Node within the trigger zone will be linked to that zone.

For props you can also set the key "commander alpha" to 0.     Thanks Kouji!

    1. Power nodes are linked to location entities, as you said. not the trigger entity. i finished placing my location zones at the same time i put those trigger entities^^
    2. commander camera is still jumping, but more or less its works now. it still jumps at a zone in the middle of the map where i placed nothing, only void there.
    3. it works fine now :) thanks for that!
    4. i guess only a few props have that "dmg" tag? i tried to edit some random railing prop, but there was no option for that. ill try that on other props later

    but thanks again^^ helped me much :)
