I understand that there are current issues with the performance of the game.
For those of us with lower specs, I just wish I had the ability to further lower settings of the game to make it playable.
Is there a way of editing .ini files or whatever is used to config the game, so that I can turn off what GFX I don't need in order to play?
I'd love it if there was an advanced tab with the graphics settings but know that won't be coming for a while off.
At least this way, the game will be playable so that I actually have an interest in playing until it's finally released.

Are indeed console commands you could use, but currently they have close to no impact at all. Also playing on "ridiculously awful" or "medium" on graphics settings doesn't impact my FPS either (high I canae try, don't have enough vRAM)
When you type those commands in, does the console give you a response?
I wasn't able to tell if it went through or not since I didn't see really a change in the environment.
I typed it with and without the quotation marks.
If you do a "thirdperson 5" and run around, then do a "r_shadows false" and run around in thirdperson, that's where you will notice the biggest difference visually and performance wise right now.
