Very few servers / Recommended Serverlist

Hi guys,
I guess I'm not the only one asking, but the search function...well, it's not very extensive and couldn't get me anything helpful.
The issue:
Each time I start the game, there are only 2-3 servers with players and about 15 empty ones. So far, so annoying - sometimes you're actually lucky and get a good game.
Today I noticed "Recommended Games" standing on top of the list.
Does that mean, that there are more games, which just aren't "recommended"? If that's the case, how do I get them displayed?
Furthermore I keep reading of Server-IPs postet all over the NS2-sites. But how do I add those to my server list?
