I think that we'll see some microphone improvements very soon. It's a good idea to follow NS2 on Twitter if you have it. They announced a little while back that mic improvements are in the works. I know there's a little work yet to be done with the microphones, but I would imagine soon after the voice optimizations are completed, we'll see something to help get rid of mic-spamming. There are some small bugs with the web-admin module that runs with NS2, so sometimes kicking a player does nothing. I'm sure that'll get worked out in time.

While I agree with the most points in your post, this is just ridiculous.
commander taking a little too long to explain his strategy --> automute griefer being smart enough to make a 1 second brake after talking 20 seconds --> no automute
There is no reliable method how the game could decide if it's griefing or not. This has to be up to players.

There is no reliable method how the game could decide if it's griefing or not. This has to be up to players.
