Expand the value of the tech point

<div class="IPBDescription">ways to expand the rts</div>Ok so the basic gameplay in ns is the fact that there are two types of points around the levels. There are the res points and the tech points. You are forced to build the same thing on these points. You build a res tower on the res point or you build a rts point on the tech point. It seems that UWE should and could allow you to build other types of things on these points. Things that would change up the gameplay. Things that maybe help you in one way but hurt you in another. This would open up the rts and make it much less linear.
I can think of two things that they could do for both the humans and aliens.
The robotics factory is huge! Why not make it be a thing that you can only build with a tech point. Its tech right? This gives the commander a choice that he has to make. Go for another cc that will sit there unused or get the robotics.
Heres one for the aliens. Remove the lerk as a unit u have right away and make it so you have to build a nest on a tech point. Then if your near the nest you can evolve into a lerk.
This gives the alien commander a choice do i go for the second hive and get fades or the nest for lerks.
Expanding the role of the tech point will really open up the game as far as the rts goes.
For the res points what if you could build a tower that didnt give you any res at all but drained the other teams pool.
Overall i think tech points need more value because at least as a human u hardly ever build on another tech point. You just sit back and do upgrades and then phase gate a attack.
As a human you never really need to expand out other then just to get the rts.
These points could be used in many other ways to. Just something i think that could be looked into as it would really open up the rts element and the strating that comms do.

I cant really come up with something better myself but a whole building for lerk seems a bit much, maybe some other type of building that gives other upgrades or something.
I just think that they have these two cool elements in the gameplay that are vastly under used. But i do think it should be a general goal to encourage teams to expand into the map and not just sit in there start.
