NS2 Preformance.

<div class="IPBDescription">NS2 preformance on laptops.</div>I'm currently in the market for a laptop as to continue with the development of my map(Desktop is just a no-go for me at the moment due to moving around the country often), so more of a question to the lads that play NS2 on laptops, I need recommendations or advice on fairly decent laptops that are capable of running NS2 + Spark.
Cost of them isn't so much of an issue at the moment but i'm unaware of gaming laptop preformance vs desktop since i rarely, if ever, use them for gaming. Links or just personal opinions would be fine.

Thanks.

If you can afford it, go for a laptop with:

An i5 or i7 CPU (NS2 loves the i series)

    4GB RAM+

A DEDICATED Graphics Chip of decent spec like a GeForce 460/560 or Ati 5770+ (not low-end) with 1GB GDDR5 RAM or above

if possible an SSD, though not really needed.

What about a Dell XPS 17?

    Or perhaps an Alienware?

I'm on a somewhat custom built laptop running Win7 64bit, i7 CPU, 4GB RAM, and Mobility Radeon HD 5650. It runs the game quite well, although if occlusion acts up (bug being fixed) it can drop fps quite a bit. I usually play on medium quality because it handles high but sometimes starts getting hot after a long round (probably stressed from the occlusion bug). If you have to get a laptop I'd recommend at least similar specs.

    Thanks for the response lads.

For the most part i'll be using it to run spark, since i'll be moving between the mrs and London, so i just need it to be able to level design when i'm on the move as well as when i'm at the various places. I can live with it running at medium settings, and if it runs at high settings just fine when it's just me is perfect, since all i need to do is to test out my level from time to time.

I bought the above last week as there's a deal on it at the mo (UK). Runs both the game and spark just fine at highest settings and looks fantastic on the 1080 screen. Good specs, good price. Highly recommended!

Aye it's fairly good, got a decent amount of ram and a decent chip, gfx card isn't too shabby either, i was eyeing up the dell XPS 17 and just adding a few things like the 3gb 550m nvidia, upgrading the cpu to an i7 and giving it 1tb of hdd space, at least the specs would be almost the same, an as you said it seems to run the game and spark great, then fantastic, i know what i'm getting next payday.

Cheers for your help lads, appreciate it.
