Infestation that is connected to the hive, and been connected for 5 minutes, could create a mist effect at its location.
It would look like umbra but less dense, and have a similar effect to umbra so aliens will receive some shielding but only a fraction of what the real umbra provides.
If possible, the mist effect wouldnt be so visible for aliens so they wouldnt have to activate alien vision, but they would still be aware that an area has mist and can appreciate the nice visual effect.
