Transparent Minimaps

like in ns1
Hi gamers !
I have created a transparent minimap version for ns2_summit. I find it useful for being more reactive to skulk attacks :p
And my previous transparent minimap with names had a lot of success on NS1.
Here I have removed the variations of color inside the rooms (not so useful). The room are transparent but the walls are almost opaque. Here are a few screenshots of the minimaps. You can try too by downloading the file here and put it in ns2/maps/overview (/!\ Remember to make a backup of your old minimap file /!\)
What do you think about it ? Does it need improvement, is it too transparent/not enough ?

Minimap with object behind.

You can watch the map and shoot in the same time.

Comm view is ok too.

No problem for the small map of the comm

Ditto. Gj.
I'm sorry to say that the layout is subject to change though.
And the game usually creates transparent minimaps, but there seems to be a bug in the overview.exe.
(You can see a transparent spot in the upper left corner)
I have used it for a few games now, and I have to say that I have the minimaps almost always opened. Very useful to detect stalking skulk !
I'll do transparent minimaps for all the maps when the next build is released.
+1!
That means it's not 100% accurate, there's a small, dark edge around most of the layout.
So I softened the black-white alpha channel to get some semi-transparent gray at the transition from layout to void.
It's pretty easy to add transparency; you can even remove everything except the outlines for the super pros ;)
There is a gray edge around the layout due to the softening.
Just select the pure white of the alpha channel and paint it with 75% black or whatever transparency you aim for.
For outlines only paint the pure white black.
I just tried it myself and I can upload if you want.
@luns : look at the other topic (http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=114147). We can increase the minimap size by modifying the GUIMinimap.lua
The .zip includes 2 .tgas for a transparent minimap version and one with only outlines.
Backup your ns2_summit.tga in ns2/maps/overviews and replace it with desired minimap tga
