Our problem:

Our Online comunity recently desided to expand our library of games with NS2.

After mailing our server provider ( MyInternetServices.com ) they agreed to add the game to our server list.

After we logged into our control panel and started up the NS2 server we started up NS2 to find out that our server was not showing up in the server list.

So we desided to go back into the control panel to see whats up.

Problem 1 : We tried to open up the config files, we found out that it wasnt a CFG file ( as is the case in games like CS:S or TF2 ) but it was a XML file.
Our control panel is unable to open or display an XML file. ( CFG opens up a notepad for us )

We contacted our server provider and they told us they they had tried to set up NS2 servers in the past but where unable to get it to run, also they told us that they where dropping source games cuz they have been such a hazzle past years updating every time and they where getting flooded by tech support tickets.

Why not go to a differnt server provider? you might ask.

because we currently have several servers running of other games we play ( COD BF2 CS:S TF2 BFBC2 etc ) and they all run very smoothly plus up until nw there suppport has been exelent.

Why doesnt your server provider give you remote desktop acces? for there own protection, ranked server files in EA games etc etc

What does your control panel offer? Lots of things like running STEAM updates, changing port etc. we basicly get about % full control of the server files without getting acces to the actual server computer.

what could be the actual problem theory? several ideas come to mind. our provider messed up installing the dedi file on the server. treading it like any other source game ( i was told NS2 has its own engine that you guys build from scratch ) and then putting it in there control panel so it doesnt work prober.

still doesnt explain why it wont show us the XML file.
Research if done setting up a server seems easy as pie using the NS2 wiki.

Who knows mayby we have not set it up correctly on our side ( cntl panel ) like set amount of player slots that should not be the size it currently is (24 slots)

what do you guys think we should do?
