Dropping Infestation

Hey, been playing quite a bit of the beta recently and really enjoying it. Even though I played a load of NS1 I found it a rather steep learning curve especially with Alien side. I know its still early days and there will eventually be tool tips and maybe even offline training mode but thought I would make one quick suggestion.

With connecting infestation as Alien commander the first few attempts I really mucked up and that can be costly. Was thinking it could be decent when laying infestation to have a template (similar to the dynamic coloured outline you see with marine squads as marine commander), you would see the distance needed to place infestation and stop dead patches.

Hi Mako, and welcome to NS2 forums :)

In the next patch, Cysts will be introduced. They generate infestation and can be killed by any Marine weapons, and the Commander can only place them in range of other Cysts. Gorges will be able to drop small Cysts anywhere to generate infestation, those can be connected to Commander Cysts.

But yeah, having a ghost model of infestation to show the radius would be great.

I just hope that the small cysts will develop into large ones if connected to commander placed cysts, that would make perfect sense, as the cysts would be nourished and turn mature etc.

must remember never to chat to my girlfriend about my excitement for this game.

"So yeah that problem I had with my infestation spreading, its getting fixed with cysts!"

+10 to get your ass dumped for suspected downstairs infections.

    HAHAHA Mako. That's gold.

More on topic, I agree with V3 here. Gorge-placed cysts should mature to be indistinguishable from commander-placed cysts.
