End Game Comming

I frequently see people stop comming during the NS2 end game (when all, or nearly all, tech is researched and most of the tech/res nodes have been captured), when I personally find that their are still many things the comm can do. In particular,

On marines
- Drop ammo/med packs
- Repair damaged structures
- Push with ARCs/sentries/PG/armories/other structures
- Further entrench locations
On aliens
- Expand or rebuild cyst chains
- Build forward crag/whip clusters
- Build up defenses

I can understand how in some parts of a match, having an extra player on the ground can help more than having a comm, but I feel that players stop comming way before its useful to do so. Are there any other benefits of not comming in the end game that I'm missing? Maybe people who do stop comming can give the reasons they do so?

Perhaps it's just boring building cysts and dropping med kits for hours on end. A lot of the time you can hop in and out of alien com while you wait for energy and res to build up.

Yep, the 0 action of being a commander, and possibly hoping a third of your team will do what you need them to do usually turns me off.

Let's face it commanding is boring.

Nobody in right mind ever goes in there since its frustrating to see the very little strategy you can do only to get screwed by your own teammate.

A big part of it is the removal of spending all that extra res on weapons. Just sayin'.

I preferred alien commander to most other parts of the game pre 180 actually.

Playing as fade was OK too I guess, but commanding was easily the most reliably enjoyable role in the game.

Marine commander is kind of annoying as you need marines to do everything for you, but if you have a team that listens you can do an awful lot with marine comm.

Com is really boring... especially when your team doesn't listen to you. There's really so little you can do as a commander. I suppose we could all decide to stop buying upgrades for our soldiers until they start to listen? lol

I prefer alien commanding, the only thing I hate is spreading infestation, I wish it actually would spread on its own.

as for end game commanding for marines, its mostly based on building more and more turrets. its really annoying, and boring.

spreading infestation is a ######! especially with how bugged out the cyst system is at this point. It takes me a full minute to get a ######ing cyst dropped sometimes.

You are doing something very wrong if all you do is build turrets.

Covering maps with turrets covering turrets covering turrets....

    is a working strategy.

It's like the marine's version of infestation.

except infestation does no damage, and is killed about 100X more easily than turrets are

I meant it in the actual term for infestation, and how it tends to cover the map in it's death. Sorry for the confusion.

It isn't a very good one though, using groups of marines supported by phase gates, armories, MACs and ARCs is a far more effective one that works in any situation.

I think the real problem is, turrets don't do much to help marines win the game. They make it easy for the marines to stay alive though. I've encountered some turret farms that were probably 100% impossible to take out. And those games usually go on for hours and hours, until the turret spam encompasses the whole map, or the aliens give up.
