I've got to admit, when I was playing CS competitively (back in '01, mind you, and before I discovered NS), beyond the AK, DE, M4, MP5, XM1014, and a couple of the sniper rifles, we didn't see much used for any reason besides "it happens to be free." Has that changed recently? Or are 2/3 of the options in the game still something that someone out there uses, but the vast majority of players don't want to use because they can't figure out any reason for any sane person to want to use it (for the record, that was me and the Sig assault rifle)?
Just been reading charlies notes, and I actually quite like where he is going.
Spam really is a problem because basic lifeforms can easily get behind and destroy them.
I think reloading could be tedious, but I like the idea. If this is something that can be done through a single button click (maybe hovering button) and not too frequent a task it should be fine.
I still worry that skulls could just leap them and chomp though.
This sort of positive (kills things more easily) negative (requires reloading) balancing I am a fan of.
Also, it means they can be cheap to buy - but costly to run. So placeable early game.
Perhaps reloading is something that could be taken from a pool, so you just restock it - meaning sentries will start running low at random. Forcing conservative placement, but also easier reload management.
Looking forward to next patch - if skulks can't just jump 2 from the front and get behind.
