People usually prefer not to answer general HL mapping questions in these NS specific forums... It can get tiresome after a while.
It can be frustrating when starting out on something like this... just hang in there, and keep at it.
Read as much as you can from the Valve-ERC, and maybe try hanging around the site's forums a bit. This stuff takes a bit of time to learn.
Oh! And check out <a href="http://www.planethalflife.com/wavelength" target="_blank">Wavelength</a>. Their old tutorials are a great place to learn the basics. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I think I made my very first map (cs_chill) before I was even aware of all the various online resources, including mapping forums! Although it took a while, I managed to learn a lot simply through trial and error. The only resource that I was aware of at the time was Wavelength.
Persevere! Don't make the mistake of over-relying on others t do your troubleshooting. You'll learn much more from the process of surmounting your own obstacles.
