<div class="IPBDescription">Just an idea.</div>My idea implements another voice chat button called "local chat" which runs along side the (team voice chat) that we use at the moment.
My Idea:
Local Chat: My idea is basically this: When you talk in 'local chat' you are basically saying a sentance out loud where both your team and the enemy can hear (in a certain distance). The further you are away from person using 'local chat' the quieter it gets. 'local chat' does not appear on the HUD. This will basically prevent mic spam over 'Team chat'. ie "Cover me, Weld me" ect.
Important information should be said via team chat.
Team Chat: So basically 'team chat' is like a radio which can contact every player on team. Since you are actually saying something out loud on the radio, you can be heard by the enemy.
Note: Team chat does not act like local chat to friendlies (to prevent double voice spam).
Would be cool if marines and aliens had to wisper when deep inside alien/marine territory to prevent giving away their position.
Note: Unsure if aliens should be allowed to use this as it might not suit the game style (or maybe they communicate team chat via magical brain powers).
There is my idea, thought it would be a unique fps/rts gaming concept. If anyone has seen this before could you post the game. It might be implemented on an MMORPG but never seen it on an fps/rts.
Please bombard the ###### out of this idea, as i havn't thought massively about how it might affect the gameplay.
Thanks for reading,

Comments
1. More effective griefing (see whole server mic-spam rather than one side)
2. Confusion on who is talking since you can't be sure that the person is one your team
The 2nd part can make teamwork-related communication very difficult if done wrong. For example, in R&L, the voice chat also has a distance drop-off, meaning that if you got too far from your teammates, you couldn't communicate anymore. Realistic? Sure. But fun? Not so much.

In the building next to me: Njet!
Me: Einverstanden
Enemy: Da!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
And of course the classic of taunting your own team on a desert map
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Me: Feindliches U-boot entdeckt!
Buddy: Jawohl! Brauche see unterstützung!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
But yeah, we do already have and hope to get more local taunts... WE NEED MORE, WE CAN NEVAH HAVE ENUF TAUNTS! Odd thing is that the aliens suffice with just the chuckle... They are apparently far superior to us in terms of communication and psychological warfare!
