Attack lose.
Okay. Pretty often when i fire any gun at a player.... dont get a hit... even when i can see the crosshairs right over them the hole time. I thought it was lag and lose of shot... Ive had the ssame problem with skulk bite.... biting a light armored marine three times and he doesnt go down. But no one else seems to have the problem. Could it be something wrong in my config? Whats up?

Try starting a game (entering a server with only 1 player online is good) and ask very nicely if an opponent will help you test your weapon.
Or, failing that, be a marine before the next patch comes out, and empty a clip or two into a nice strong marine structure, such as a turret factory. (Due to a bug, marines can currently TK their own structures, even with friendly fire turned off.) Don't destroy it or people on your team will get mad at you, but maybe shave off just one health bar.
If you can seem to damage structures but not players, maybe you just haven't gotten the hang of the weapons yet.
With regards to shooting: aliens are fast sombiches. You can usually take down a skulk running down a corridor towards you, but don't expect to be able to kill one that just dashed around the corner at you, or is circling you chewing on you.
With reguards to skulk bites: there is no such thing as getting to close. Lean into them during the biting process. It takes a lot of skill to circle a marine and chew on him. =P Your best bet is to hang from the ceiling, and when he runs past beneath you, jump on him from behind and bite bite bite! Don't hold still once you hit the ground, keep chasing him.
The game is designed so that, when two groups of players clash, the marines and the aliens both have strengths and weaknesses. Whoever has done the best planning and has the tactical advantage will probably win the fight. You can't just run around the map fragging people in this game. That's the genius of it.
Oh, also, the marine weapon shots don't always fire exactly in a straight line. They have a little recoil to them.
And finally, if the marine or alien just plain "doesn't die fast enough," it's possible you're doing damage, but the marine commander has researched better armor or the alien has evolved the "carapice" special ability. Try asking them next time it happens. "Hey, do you have a level 3 carapice or something?" "Nice shot. Was I doing any damage at all?" Usually, if you're nice about it, the other player will talk to you, unless they're total dickwads, then they go "its called skill and im made of it."
