Marines need more weapons

I think to really accommodate players styles there needs to be more weapons, mainly some type of sub machine gun as well as a longer ranged rifle with some type of scope. I think the sub machine gun is needed to deal with skulks and that the longer ranged rifle is needs to allow the humans to camp outside a alien infested room and slowly progress into it.

that's not a new idea, but I still like it very much ;) It could be quite cheap (comparable with the alien upgrades, 4 - 6 res?). If it makes you 1 or 2 additional kills, 6 res would be ok. The downside of the LMG is the reloading (you become vulnerable), so somehow a bigger clip size also means a defensive upgrade for you. And uwe wants the LMG to be used in late game aswell, so it would make perfect sense. And it would be nice to have 2 choices for the commander to make when the game starts: either research shotgun in the beginning or LMG clip size.
The buy slots at the armory 1-3 could should anyway get replaced by something else.

In particular, it could just specify the weapon class for each spot and then let the player choose the specific weapon. Something like
Slot 1: Assault weapons (Current default: LMG)
Slot 2: Backup weapons (Current default: Pistol)
Slot 3: Support weapons (Current default: axe)
This, the pistol is always there if you need to shoot something coming for you.
Something semi automatic like the guns from dod would fit nicely, what was it the garand? and that axis bolt action gun + bayonet

I just hope they extend the Weaponry with more creative and interesting things, like the NS1 Rifle and grenade launcher, welder etc.

Uh, I assume the minigun is going to be a minigun, a minigun is a multi-barreled weapon that spits out 2,000-6,000 rounds per minute (33-100 rounds a second.)
If its a minigun its not going to have "slow mega powerful blasts." It might have explosive ammunition for small blasts though.
In any case, a Heavy Bolter is more like a faster firing MK19, it's not a slow firing "mega-blast" weapon, it's a effectively a machine gun that fires something like 40-50mm grenades (according to the background "fist sized."
