Prop_dynamic

<div class="IPBDescription">how does it function?</div>So, it seems to me that prop_dynamic is "inconsistent". That is to say I dont really understand what it is, or what its actually doing. I can get a fanblade model to animate using prop_dynamic, but changing the model from the fan to the hologram yielded no animation at all, despite the fact that I only took the currently functioning prop dynamic and changed the model. So my question would be, what does prop_dynamic actually do? is there some inherent animation built into each model that it activates? Is it only for making rotation?

Any info regarding it would be nice.. so I dont have to do failed tests over and over. Im guessing what I want to do (just add rotation to the hologram model) is probably best done as a cinematic, but more than that, I would like to understand what prop_dynamic does, so I can know when it is best to use it.

I also noticed that certain static props have some animation(some of the computer terminals, just screens that have a bit of animation) How does this relate to prop dynamic, if at all, and how would you disable or enable such animations, if possible.

Just lookin for a bit of info if anyone knows.

I'm not sure myself, but I'm guessing the current implementation is for making things spin and will get more Lua behind it for more animation. Or of course they could scrap it all together for animating things, while they point you to the cinematic editor :P

The screens on the terminals are external animation AFAIK, are they still using Flash for this guys?

Yes, they still use flash. You can know this by putting your weapon over it, if your hand appears behind it whilst the gun appears in front, it's flash. Weird bug I know.
