Builder or healing Gorge needs some love.

I have noticed that with recent resource changes, it is very difficult to play gorge as a healer or assistant builder. Since the recent resource model change seems skewed to kills, the accumulation of personal resources are extremely slow for a gorge that must rely on harvesters. I understand that the gorge can be successfully played as a battle medic on the front line, but with the hit slow down even affecting the belly slide, it is very difficult to retreat. The upcoming "armored crouch" may help.

There needs to be another method of feeding a Gorge that remains behind the lines.

Some Ideas...

1. Gorges can eat (recycle) structures (suggested in Get Satisfaction)
2. Gorges on DI get a P-res bonus
3. Gorges can suck on a pustule or harvester (seen suggested somewhere)
4. Commanders can convert some team res to give to gorges as P-res (I don't like this idea)
5. Gorges get a small percentage of P-res from each of their teammate kills (my favorite idea)

Any other ideas?


The gorge is not broken but I feel that something is needed to supplement P-res for those that are playing the alien as a healer/builder/assistant.

    I agree that the personal res is a problem now with res for kills. The gorge really rarely gets kills, because at most he assists on a kill, but does not really end it.

    We already have a problem with second commanders. Gorges would then selfishly recycle structures so that they get more resources for themselfes. I don't like the idea.

    Why not. But not very intuitive. Why not a general p-res bonus?

    The idea sounds nice, but would probably play terribly. I can't imagine how it can be fun to do this during a few minutes. And if the res came in too fast, people would abuse it to get fast fade/onos.

    I don't like that idea either. sounds complicated to manage.

    That sounds not bad. I would suggest to combine with idea 2. Some percentage of res for kill goes to the team resource income. The gorges (all of them) get 1/3 (random number) of the team resource income as personal res.

    Personally I don't like RFK at all.
    It pushes strong players and weakens the weak ones.

    I don't think that the gorge needs more p-res then other aliens, because players will abuse this to get a better lifeform. In NS1 there was a need for a perma gorge, but now in NS2, there isn't.

    I go gorge, build some structures or heal stuff, and if I am out of Res, I change back to skulk and go killing again. and.. why not`?
    It forces players to change their role from time to time...
