Reorienting when spawning in

Every time I spawn in, I have to reorient myself in the map. I look around for a second or two, trying to find known landmark. Sometimes, I pull up the minimap and move my character around hoping to find my green arrow. As I get to know the map better, this is less of a problem. But for new players, or new/revised maps, this can be very confusing. When there are multiple hives/ccs, it is even more difficult. (For marines, there is less of an issue since they typically have only a few spawn points that are generally in the same place).
There needs to be some type of quick orientation mechanism so that when you spawn, you immediately know exactly where you are and what direction you are facing. There are a number of ways to do this; here are a few ideas:
1. Make the player icon and orientation easier to determine on the minimap. Perhaps a colored, quickly expanding circle or triangle "blip" that occurs over the player arrow whenever you initially bring up the minimap, immediately pulling the player's attention to that location.
2. As an extension to #1, automatically show the minimap just before spawning for a second.
3. As the player spawns in, show a zoomed out view of the room (behind the spawn point, akin to 3rd person perspective), and move the camera into the player.
4. Immediately when spawning, draw visual helper "bubbles" in 3d-space, pointing to the nearest rooms/hives. e.g. {Data Core ---> 33m}

I don't like the 2nd and 3rd, the 4th might be a good idea, as long as you can enable and disable it.
