Fade guide.

Realizing I posted this in the completely wrong area the first time, this is what happens when you post sleep deprived.

The fade, you all know it marines quake in their boots when they see it how to maximise your time as a fade in the current build is simple this is my strategy for using a fade which I usually only die once or twice per match while in fade form.

The only reason I'm doing this is because people are crying that fades are under powered even though they are perfect where they are right now.

The role of the fade
The Fades role is a vanguard unit, it is always the first one in because it can get in there fast, it's resilient enough to catch attention, can get out just as fast and allows for smaller forms to engage the enemy as a fade will always throw even the best marine squads out of cohesion and panick, when working in a team fight scenario the fade should be going in and using his energy mainly on keeping the marines distracted following you around the room, keep their attention by swiping at them when you/them come close enough to gaurente a hit, your energy is precious do not waste it.

Basically,

What a fade is
Anti-Infantry
High damage assassin
Hit and run guerilla
Harasser
fear tactic

What a fade is NOT
Building killer
Tank
Support
Cherry picker
Opertunist

Watch your bars.
Always keep one eye on your bars every chance you can while fighting, Why you ask? well it's quite simple when playing fade your armour is everything, once your armour is dead your life pool is going to drop like a baby out of a 4Th story window, always get away with at least 25 armour just in case the marines decide to chase you.

Energy:
This one is important, your energy is your life, you must use it sparingly as if you don't keep at least 1/4Th of your bar of energy and your engaged in a fight with 3, sometimes even 2 marines, if you try to get away and they chase you, chances are you're going to die.

Single Marines:

Single marines are the easiest as you can take down a marine pretty easily with a few swipes, if he has a shotgun he will take a chunk out of you if you take him head first, so the trick is to blink PAST the marine and maybe around a corner if he has no friends nearby, then blink back towards him and hit him then blinking past him again, the trick is to try and stay behind the marine so you're out of his range of fire and he can't get any hits on you.

Groups
Groups are dangerous, and with the induction of the new camouflage ability leaves you with 2 options for attacks on groups.

Assassination: It's quite simple in theory but takes practise to master, the trick to taking out groups with the fade is threat assessment, flame thrower before shotgun, shotgun before grenade launcher, grenade launcher before rifle so basically the hierarchy kill order would be Flame>Shotgun>GL>Rifle.
When engaging a group be sure to scout the group first using a few blink ins to throw them into a little chaos while seeing who has what, when you're ready to take them out blink in and blink behind the group and then to the flame thrower, if you practice you can try either using the secondary which usually kills a marine in one hit sometimes requiring a swipe to finish him off, of you can beat him down with swipes, once the flamer is dead depending on where your bars are, if you have over half armour proceed with massacring the marines until you have 25% of your armour left or 25% of your energy left, whichever comes first, the one thing I cannot stress enough when engaging a group of marines with a flamer is the following. IF YOU GET SET ON FIRE BEFORE TOUCHING THE FLAMER RUN. Regardless how much energy/health you have left because being on fire will rob you of all your energy too quick, more often than not when I run into a flame thrower I end up running rather than fighting and trying to come at him from a different angle to get him.

Ambush: An ambush made possible by the shade upgrade has made the fade even more dangerous, if the enemy commander is not scanning areas before his marine squads are going down a passage all you have to do is stand where the marines will walk by, when the group walks by, secondary swipe the flamer and finish him with a swipe if the secondary did not get him with the first hit, it's less risky than a direct attack and will throw them into more chaos but people will call you a "noob" for doing it, because it really is an easy way to kill people, but their commander is to blame for not scanning before sending his marines somewhere, when I comm I am always scanning.

For even more ownage do this with 2 fades, one in front and one in the rear, the rear fade lets the marines walk past him when they are past him the one in front gets their attention, hopefully of the flamer the one behind comes out of stealth and kills the flamer hopefully, at which points both fades swoop down on the remaining squad of marines now unable to really do anything without their flamer to scare off the fades.

And that is the two solo ways of playing the fade.

Next is team play.

Working with your team as a fade is simple, when working in a team attack the fade should be an instigator, warp in get their attention warp to the other side of their base/strong point and keep their eyes there while the skulks and lerks come at them, the fade will throw their whole team into a disarray as they flail frantically with their guns to kill the fade blinking around in the middle of them, I cannot count the times my team has successfully taken out a strong point and it's defenders by keeping the marines distracted. if they aren't paying attention to the way in because the threat is already inside that allows the skulks to leap past any entrance sentries and the gorges to start bile bombing the hell out of them.

Harassment:Harassment is more or less just to get a careless marine to come out and attack you or to buy time for your team to get into position, normally when I harass I go after power nodes and a marine or two will come and try and stop me, if they come after me normally they are dead, if they don't they lose a node, it's a win win either way, the only time you lose as a fade harassing is when a whole squad comes after you which works as it would allow your team to go after the complete opposite side of them.
The other type of harassment you can do is to blink around in their base keeping them there because they want to kill you you can potentially kill one or two while doing this and still be able to blink out, I do it all the time. Just remember the golden rule, always keep 25% energy and armor for escape.

Things to remember

-Energy is precious, do not squander it.
-Once your armour is gone you WILL, die a solo fade with no armour has no chance against a marine with a shotgun
-Save 1/4th of a tank of energy for escape
-When going after a group with a flamer, kill flamer first, if caught on fire before touching flamer, run until flame is out, try again. If possible from a different angle.
-NEVER let a marine run away, you ARE faster, if a marine is running blink past him and beat him down, the more marines you keep dead the easier it will be for your gorges/skulks to kill buildings.

Good stuff, but sadly at this point in the game, it mostly boils down to evolve fade, blink to marine, swipe, blink again before he sees you. Repeat 100x and you get a 50-1 k/d ratio even by bad players.

It boils down to teamwork. Going for a high K/D ratio isn't necessarily going to help your team.

Good guide, but I think its a bit more complicated than it needs to be for the current fade. As long as you can blink and swipe in quick succession, you can largely do a frontal charge. The invincibility while blinking is a powerful tool that I don't see many new fade players use.

    Thanks for the armor tip.

That was usually the reason for demise.

yup, fades life pool is weak as ###### lol. Sometimes I wonder if it's a glitch cause it goes down way to fast compared to armor.

Armor and health take different amounts of damage dependent on the type, armor is for the most part better than HP at sucking up damage.

well naturally, but when you have so much more life than armour you would think the life would be able to take more than a couple shots

I think it's something like a 5-1 ratio and that the shotgun does more damage to life than armor innately. Not sure, I know skulks lost 5 armor equating to a 11% drop in effective HP.
