Clean up this sub-forum

<div class="IPBDescription">+1 Posts</div>Hi all, I mostly read through forum, do not post very much... but I felt that it could be cleaned up significantly as I am sick of having to scroll through lots of '+1' posts which add no meaningful content to a thread. Often I see a new post in a thread I am following and waste time reading through to find all it was, was a '+1'.

My suggestion would be to ban posts with no content and instead put an automatic poll up the top of every suggestion which reads:
- Yes, I like this idea
- Maybe, I like the idea but think it needs tweaking
- No, Do not like the idea

The poll could perhaps be automatically reset if the OP edits their post (updating suggestion) although I have never admin'd forums so not sure if this bit is possible.

TL/DR - Ban '+1' posts

+1/-1 are just easier and more convenient ways of showing you approve or disapprove of an idea. Why disregard convenience?

Edit: Of course a meaningful response would be nice.

    +1 work

I approve of some way of making the amount of approvals/disapprovals immediately evident for a topic, but am not sure this is the best way to do it.

If you read more than the TLDR I suggested putting a poll at the top of each suggestion, would this not be more convenient than having to go to all the effort of hitting the quote button then typing "+1"?

Suggested a poll because they are inbuilt in to pretty much every forum codebase, there are probably neater ways to implement it, but a poll should be simple in a forum context.

"+1" is nothing more then some lame postcount++, I remember a few months back it was much nicer to read these forums before the "+1 spam" started...

    [edit]
I'm talking of course about the posts that consist of just "+1" or "-1", posts that have this and some actual meaningful on-topic content ain't so bad...

If I remember correctly, back in the day these forums use to have the ability to make a poll. I wonder what happened to that.

Or maybe I am just imagining things…

I've never seen a poll script on these forums, not even before the "great gap of down time". Would solve this shizzle..

    -1

I use the +1/-1 to advise if one supports the suggestion or not. I will not be changing my habits. If you don't like it, tough. It is far more meaningful that this entire forum topic!

+1 It's easy to ignore them if you don't care for them, though that's not saying I don't think easily made polls would be nice to see.. Occasionally.

Though I take the usefulness of polls pretty lightly since it's even lazier input thus likely less meaningful than the current +1/-1 method in my book.
