The Lerk seems weird.

<div class="IPBDescription">After playing NS 1 a lot....</div>Hi guys.
I've recently started playing this game again after a few month's break. It's extremely impressive now that a lot of the performance issues are history.
However, the Lerk seems like it's a bit lacking in power/usefulness/whatever you want to call it.
I've got a couple ideas I'd like to hear feedback on:
1. A melee bite attack like it had in NS
This allows you to damage in large bursts like a skulk, while risking up-close damage from things like shotguns. You can use a hit-and-run style with your flight and disorienting gas to bite enemies down. The machinegun attack could still be used, but it wouldn't be your only option.
2. Allow wing flapping to push you in the direction you're strafing (rather than always up/forward)
This is more geared toward the current design of the class (making it more of a ranged attacker via the machinegun attack and lack of a melee bite). It would allow you to fly while still aiming at enemies (where currently you have to fly predictably toward whoever you're shooting at, or slow down as you float in one direction and aim in another).
I loved playing the Lerk in NS1 and I like the shift in gameplay it's undergoing in this game, but I think it needs a bit more work if it's going to stand up to things like the Fade. A lot of the time when I play right now I feel like my entire role comes down to carpet-bombing gas clouds to disorient marines, because my gun is so slow to kill them once they get a bit of armor, and it feels so unsafe to fire on the move.
Your thoughts?

2. You can can flap to the side but not as fast as in NS1
The discussion about melee for lerk came up alot of times and is somehow implemented in the (on hold) Prototype Mod. UWE knows that alot want the bite back but it seems like they don't want bite as melee.
And I guess we won't see it in NS2.
Forgive me if I sound like an idiot but what is that?

secondary weapon (right click)
I will try it next time I play, guys! Sorry.
But be aware the lerk SG uses 30% of your energy and is only effective when close because it has a big spread.
Buy the game at <a href="http://www.naturalselection2.com/buy" target="_blank">http://www.naturalselection2.com/buy</a>
If your patient with bugs and issues, it may be the best investment in a game you'll make.
Would recommend playing some rounds on NS1 to get a feeling of what you may expect from NS2.
