<ul><li>Only affects lights that cast shadows</li><li>Current depth map resolution is fixed</li><li>New option allows maps to have larger depth map resolutions</li></ul>

<b>BENEFITS</b>
<ul><li>Reduces the prominence of graphical anomalies resulting from near obstructions to shadow-casting lights (REF 1)</li><li>Reduces graphical anomalies associated with large-range shadow-casting lights hitting obstructions towards the end of the range (REF 2)</li><li>Allows mappers to reduce depth map sizes for lights with small ranges if desired (small optimizations)</li></ul>

<b>DRAWBACKS</b>
<ul><li>Likely overhead due to large number of lights using higher depth map resolutions</li><li>May interfere with crepuscular ray code</li><li>May require rewriting of large sections of lighting code</li><li>May require "multiplier" settings for lower-spec machines to account for overhead (x1 for high, x0.5 for medium, x0.25 for low)</li></ul>
