What's up with the contrast?

Black is dark grey and it's not the screen as bringing up the scoreboard shows true black for comparison, it's always been like this i just now decided to ask.

I think it's caused by the world fog causing even dark areas to appear just a little grey. When post processing is sorted out, it will be possible to jack up the contrast so that you can have something closer to true black if you want it.

Ah i see, well it looks a bit poor at the moment, can fog be disabled in the meantime as it doesn't seem to do much apart from ruin contrast?

I've changed the fog controls to black in ns2_turtle. I can't remember if I put pitch black or a dark blue or something, but it did create more contrast and removed the washed out effect of current fog.

If you are creating a map you can try this as a temporary solution before UWE comes to adding all those promised post-processing effects.
