We're not going to be releasing a patch before New Years (sorry). We wanted to get 190 out, but most of us are headed out of town this weekend for the holidays. If there were any problems with 190 -- which seems likely based on the amount of code that's changed since 189 and the types of issues we've seen in playtesting -- we wouldn't be able to do an update for a couple of weeks.
It's too bad too, because we really wanted to play the new version over the break! We've added and improved a lot so it's painful for us to be playing with the old version...
We're not going to die just because a patch comes a few days late. Well most of us anyway. And the holidays will ease our pain. And you too should relax a bit. The coming year is going to be exciting.

You could say the same about a few bugs, at this point everyone knows to expect bugs and perhaps it's just me but id prefer to see this update now including bugs presuming they're not game breaking or causing crashes, if it's playable and there's still a few silly bugs just release it, most of us can handle it, we expect it, most of the time after a large update we know we'll need a second quicker update to sort it out.

Im a bit concerned that without the pressure to update now it will be like a month or more before we see 190, it will be two weeks minimum before you're all probably back working and settling in again, then there will be more bug fixing, play testing and possibly features squeezed in.
If there's game breaking bugs then fine, if not are you really going to let a few silly bugs stop you from releasing and end up disappointing everyone?
"presuming they're not game breaking or causing crashes"
This is where it breaks down. There's no guarantee this won't be the case. And there isn't anyone at the office able to fix those bugs over the holidays. And having us stuck with an unplayable version for the next 2-3 weeks is simply not an option. If it was possible to release build 190 as an early Christmas present to the community so to say they would do it, I am sure. Alas it is not, so we just have to wait for when they can release it. I'm sure you'll find something else under the Christmas tree to hold you attention until then.
By game breaking i mean just that, the game crashes or some serious bug prevents a round being played and finishing, im not talking about imbalanced teams or the onos freezing up and failing to be playable, those kind of bugs i can live with as it's only temporary, in fact sometimes bugs can be fun, like the phasegate bug many updates ago.
If it's play tested and they run a full round without anything serious then they should just release it, theres usually some bugs anyway, so just get on with it i say.

Do you seriously think that playing one round is enough to test anything? After a one succesfull round of testing there would prbably still be tens of major game breaking bugs because of technical stuff that has been added to 190 like map rotation.

There has been a frankly herculean effort going on to find / replicate / report and fix bugs, there's been considerably more activity within the PT teams then usual which is going some and in the case of at least one server crashing bug it was fixed and patched within minutes of being identified while we were still testing it.
The community at large can still report issues on get satisfaction but if everyone could add bugs to UWE's list direct real issues would get lost in the noise.
Trust me though, UWE are paying attention to what going on "in the wild" so the community are helping to test and improve the game just by playing it.

This is an understatement of the century. UWE has worked as hard as they can, but with all the amazing stuff that is being added/modified/fixed the mind-blown factor after the holidays will be greater. Both UWE and PT's alike deserve a nice break as they've been working a lot harder to try and get 190 publicly playable for the past two weeks.
Patience, as we all are people and deserve a nice break.
I guess everyone just has a different idea and expectations, im happy to put up with more bugs than most as long as the game is playable, also i only play for a week or so after an update as i get bored of the same maps, so when there's a big update like this id rather have it than wait another few weeks, it's a case of not playing ns2 vs update with potential bugs, id rather take the risk of bugs to be honest.
