<div class="IPBDescription">..carve 2.0</div>Hey,
as some maybe know I've already put together a little tutorial for curved floor tiles using the extrude tool:
<a href="http://i46.tinypic.com/11tst2h.jpg" target="_blank">http://i46.tinypic.com/11tst2h.jpg</a>
So I figured I might do another one about corridors, which might come in handy in certain situations.
The method has it's downsides, but I've already tried a lot of different ways in Spark to build different geometry and I would use it occasionally so here it is:
(If something is not clear, I can upload an improved version with more text/pictures, since I still have the .level file and .psd file)

I have used a similar method without extruding. I just rotate the profile on the proper axis and then connect the dots with the line tool. Lol, much more time consuming :p
I use EXTRUD but up, this method is much better!
Thank you so much!

Heh, yeah I did that before aswell and in some situations that might even be the better solution.
That's so nice about spark to have all the different ways to create geometry, all with an advantage in certain situations, but that also makes it more difficult for newcomers get some quick results.
@Alex: I'm glad it helps and speeds up some people's mapping process.
havent thought about this method before! it really helps having more methods to create rooms and corridors that easy :)
Vertices not being on the same level, e.g. all vertices are supposed to be on the z-coordinate 80, but some are off-grid and use 80.01 or 79.99 or worse..
To check: Select all the lines and use the scale tool to see the scale; one of the 3 scale values has to be 0.
Some lines are duplicated or you have a longer line going over a vertex and a shorter line, instead of 2 lines correctly split up by the vertex.
To solve this go into your isometric view (Top, Front, Side) and the grid to 1 and zoom in on any points of issue, most will probably be fine as Spark seems to handle odd areas quite well (unlike ye oldy Hammer editor) then drag these points with the move tool around and then back to the closest grid reference that they were near originally. This should sort out most issues that new mappers have.

Try doing what I said above. Make sure all points are actually on the grid in all views. 2 lines will move together if they are joined and they must be joined to make a face. If you still don't have a face, delete the line and use the pencil to draw in a new one, do this very carefully in perspective view. Make sure that they connect by looking for the green dots that tell you a point is linking to another point. Once you have done one line move onto the next line, and so on until you have gone all the way around the shape. Spark should create a face as soon as you re-draw the line that wasn't originally connected properly. Make sure you look at both sides of the shape as Spark may decide it wants to make the face on the other side of the shape and you won't see it. Also, try a very simple shape at first, like a C shaped box or something as you will find that some shapes have to be made out of smaller faces first. Keep trying to select the whole shape and clicking create face as you go along, Spark might just be having a bad day and not want to create the face.
For any one starting out: if Spark still wont create a face, the chances are your PC might not be up to the job of creating a face at all. My last PC started to die as my original map grew and just wouldn't create faces because it was just not up to the job. In the end it would barely make a box. Poor old thing!
got it
