<div class="IPBDescription">A Crag and Cyst related idea</div>Before I show you the proposal, there are two things involved that could use further emphasis with the Gorge.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->1) <b>The Crag</b>

- There was mention of Kharaa healing becoming centralized in infestation, leaving the Crag as an extra healing source or without healing capabilities at all.
- Without healing, the Crag has Umbra, Babblers and Armor research (plus any future armor-related alien upgrades such as Carapace and Regeneration)
- While still somewhat of a static defense, it will be as micro-intensive as the Whip in its current state.
- Its place as the support chamber for both lifeforms and chambers will greatly diminish.

2) <b>The Cyst Network</b>

- Cysts do what they do best, spread and maintain infestation. It is primarily the commander's job to define the whereabouts of alien territory, but the Gorge can help too.
- Cysts are alleged connected by to-be-added tendrils, which signify connection to a hive.

And onto the idea itself...

<b>The Proposal</b>
<ul><li>The Crag now connects to the Cyst network via its own tendrils.</li><li>Infestation will only have Hive Sight as default effect.</li><li>Allow the Gorge to channel its abilities through the Crag and into the Cyst network for wide-spread effect.</li><li>Effects are applied to nearby Cysts (the ones immediately connected to Crag) and the Area-of-Effect varies with the Cyst's infestation size.</li><li><!--coloro:#9ACD32--><span style="color:#9ACD32"><!--/coloro-->Spit<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> (alternatively, <!--coloro:#9ACD32--><span style="color:#9ACD32"><!--/coloro-->Web<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> if added) on the Crag to apply <!--coloro:#48D1CC--><span style="color:#48D1CC"><!--/coloro-->Marine speed reduction<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> effect.</li><li><!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->Heal Spray<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> on the Crag to increase <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->HP regeneration rate<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> for lifeforms and structures.</li><li><!--coloro:#2E8B57--><span style="color:#2E8B57"><!--/coloro-->Sludge<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> (Bile Bomb replacement mentioned in progress) on the Crag to apply <!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->DOT for Marine structures/MACs/ARCs<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> (probably less DOT than direct Sludge attack)</li><li>The duration of the effects can be tweaked for balance (ex. Spit uses less energy, therefore a few seconds at max)</li></ul>
That's the basic idea. This interaction between the Gorge and Crag will bring the Crag near the frontlines once again, and with proper Cyst placement from commander or Gorge, it can be a very powerful support mechanic. Of course, there may need to be a limit of Cysts connected to a Crag at one time, and better visual indication for commander and Gorge on where the tendrils will go.

Depending on which infestation model they will go with, a Cyst placed farther from a Crag (from 1 end of a corridor to another) but is immediately connected, should still carry the effect over to the Cyst. Note, the effect will probably only apply to infestation AROUND a Cyst, and not from the tendril connecting the Cyst and Crag, for simplicity's sake (but who knows, maybe it is programmable?)

Also, for visual indication for players, the infestation with an effect could show different particles for different effects, some suggestions below:

<!--coloro:#48D1CC--><span style="color:#48D1CC"><!--/coloro-->Marine Speed Reduction<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Increase in Infestation thickness, more lumpy and bumpy looking.
<!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->HP regeneration rate<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Crag Heal Spray wave emitting from Cyst.
<!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->DOT for Marine Structures/MACs/ARCs<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->: Gaseous spore particles emit from infestation, makes it look corrosive-like.

<!--coloro:#FF0000--><span style="color:#FF0000"><!--/coloro-->OR...<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> exclude the Cysts and the effects are from the Crag, which is easier to understand when you see the change in infestation around you.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->TL;DR:

Crag becomes an ability amplifying structure for Gorge abilities, where the effects will affect the infestation around Cysts connected to the Crag (or just the Crag in alternative idea.)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
