<div class="IPBDescription">Welds for more then repair</div>So they talk about welders sealing doors but what about for other fortifications what if we could line up or stack barrels and weld them to the floor... Aliens would be able to break welds with an onos or bile but other wise a new obsticsle, now rines can build little forts.

Reason if you were in there situation wouldn't you use everything at your disposal?

Advanced implimentation would be to build barricades as con that after they take some damage they fall over and have to be repaired/picked up but have a lot of health so they sent really worth it to kill.

Reason if a military group forms a base they won't just stand out in the open...

The trouble with barricades is that they would cause more problems for marines than they would for aliens.

Skulks can climb them, fades can teleport over them, lerks can fly past them, and onoses can annihilate them.

Further, anything that would actually block the aliens, would also be extremely easy to destroy because it would cover the aliens from gunfire.

What Chris said. In practice, open hallways are actually more beneficial to Marines than busy ones. Welding doors are useful because they change the routes that aliens must take and effectively funnel them through other passageways. It's a very different mechanic.

Maybe Marines need tall platforms to stand on, which act as "watch towers" that provide better visibility. :P

The most useful form of barricade would be a wire fence, that the marines can shoot through but aliens can't get past.

On the other hand, that'd be really overpowered in a lot of places.
