    Playtester with 14 posts... Awesome...

Back to the original topic, I would call this game Natural Selection 3.0, since 2.0 due date has come and gone a long time ago :)

dePARA is really making himself and (to a lesser extent) the NS2 playtesting team shine in this thread. I don't mind him making himself look bad, but the NS2 testers really don't deserve the negative light his posts cast on him.

Nice to see some other testers posting in the thread to clear these things up, but all of this could have been avoided if OP had just taken the time to think before posting.

In his defense, part of the "elite" bug catching group that is uber secret and appointed on by being a friend of does not mean he is not his own individual. He is entitled to his own opinion.

    1. Im a "normal" player
    2. Im the admin from HBZ
    3. Im a playtester

Do you really think that i spend time and money to host a server, if i dont love the game? My post has nothing to do with any playtester and is my personal view of the game right now.

So a playtesters job is to say: wow, the game has incedible perfomance with 30 full servers all the time and perfect balance? hmm
And its a pitty that you cant read the subtle irony in my original post.

As someone who gets to see the builds constantly improving, and as someone who's devoted their time to helping UWE find and examine issues in NS2, I would expect you of all people to know that the game is a work in progress, and that addressing balance or performance at this stage of development would just lengthen the time until release.

You're not happy with the current game as a game. We know. I don't think anyone in NS2 is truly happy with it as a game. That's because what we're playing isn't supposed to be a playable game; it's disjointed bits and pieces of one which have slowly, over a long development cycle, been drawn together, fleshed out, and expanded upon into something a little closer to a complete game than a few months ago. That's the development process.

I don't expect you to lie about the game being finished, and I don't have any problem admitting the current version is unbalanced and unoptimized, but it's kind of unsettling to have to explain what the development process is and how the current game is a work in progress to someone who was specifically picked to assist the game's development and evolution.

dePARA, I understand your frustration with certain aspects of the game being spammy right now, but as you and others know, NS2 is in development and with you helping to playtest along with the others, balance issues will be ironed out over time.

What I don't appreciate is the posting of a topic that even though you say is meant to be ironic, it is actually an open invite to criticism of the game rather than a discussion. I would suggest that in future, you give suggestions as to how to improve the 'spam' in your original post so people understand you are being constructive in your criticism and not desultory. I would welcome discussion on how to improve the game in this regard. PTs, please feel free to discuss this topic in Campfire as well.

The amount of forum posts does not equal Playtesting quality. I prefer people turn up to Playtests, that they are enthusiastic about helping the game along, that they get along with everyone and help fund bugs or contribute to NS2 in some way. Natural Selection 1 is already out. It's V 3.2. 'NS2' is a natural progression (so NS2 V1.0) or we would break the time-space continuum.

Out of curiosity, is there a way of seeing the list of NS2 play-testers, as I can't help but feel that the play-testing team consists more of people with the biggest mouth, friends-of-friends and a lack of history and/or understanding of game development, rather than people with objective views on the game and a willingness to find and decipher bugs, judging from the posts made in this thread as well as others. It would be nice to know who is helping to shape the game, thank you!

The current state of 190 is simply not ready for consumption, it has some serious gameplay balancing (spam) and FPS issues in some circumstances alongside various little tweak/hook up bugs ;)

While overall performance is superior to 189, these issues are too big to be ignored and as a result it's simply not ready for a public release.

    [edit]
    On a less serious note...

I vote for Spammable Selection, you know cause you can select stuff to spam... Hmm, it sounded better in my head and the fact I explained it makes my point moot... /hides

I would have to disagree with the "post count" comment as it is a clear indicator of the user(s) active role in the discussion of the progression for NS2. If a user is active in the community, understands the current state of the game, what is needed to push it along, someone who has played NS1 and understands the overall goal of NS2 seems to be pretty important of a PT. Having a post count so low and a join date of mid-to-late 2011 doesn't necessarily support any those prerequisites. The PT community needs more players with a competitive background and an understanding of game balance to help produce more activity in the open beta, which then, produces more activity within the community...

Smaug, unfortunately there is no "list" available that I've seen which is readily viewable by the community. I believe "they" are currently going through the list and trying to reduce the current numbers of participants in the PT program.

I would have liked this to be a discussion about improving gameplay and reducing spamming, however it seems this topic is going down a different route.

    Closing this thread.
