Got Beat 1 On 1 In 5 Minutes

in New Player Forum
So I building up my base jumping in and out of the console. I'm expecting a skulk rush by the other guy. So I weld looking around my shoulder. Got my turret factory, armory, observatory, arms lab - then I open the door to go out and claim a resource nozzle --- and an ono storms in and tears everything up. NO way he had time to get 3 hives -- what gives -- does this look like a cheat, or do i just stink at this game?

BTW that scared the bejeezus out me.

    Was it his server? He could have enabled cheats, spawned himself all of the hives and then gone Onos. Try a bigger and more established server.

    I was playing 1 on 1 because the server had a great ping and i wanted to start practicing playing comm. And I thought more people would join but i got so frustrated when that <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> came in so early in the game that i left.

    Is it possible that he had been playing for half an hour before you even arrived? He could have fully built up the alien side of the map while the Marine side stood empty.

    Just a thought.

    I dont think its possible. I suppose it does like in other mods : «Game will not start until both teams have players.»

    I could be wrond though, but I remember seeing this in a ScreenShot.

    Yea game wont start untill both sides have players. And if one side has no players left the game ends in a victory for the other team. So he had to use cheats to do that.

    you said half an hour? if he knows the map very well and built a few ressources towers and went to the three hives he might have done it.

    I don't think we should always blame cheats. Maybe he's already very good at it.

    He's the only one getting the resources, especially as a gorge. In a small 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 game, if someone takes like 3 or 4 nodes, you get resources faster than you can spend them... that's alien though, the marine is a bit less mobile, because he has to go back to comm when he needs to build something... you just gotta expand fast.

    Why the hell play a 1 v 1 game? It's a team game, hehe... what you're probably best suited doing is looking for a good server, and asking if you could get help commanding. That's how I started, someone guided me through it step by step in a 8v8 game, hehe... the aliens didn't have it too together, as I did end up winning my first game. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
