I have no problem with bitecam, also i know my range...
If you cant manage to hit, your aim or movement is crap and/or the marine is just very good at evading your attacks - he is outplaying you.

The argument that new players are never going to have the time or patience to learn would imply that no player has ever had the time or patience to learn anything in a game, meaning no player would have the time or patience to learn as all players are at some point, new players.

Sounds like an unreasonable argument to me.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
indeed
ns1 bitecam was even worse, and still godlike skulks emerged. and they all have been new players at one time.
edit: oh and removing the jaw overlay is considered cheating, its meant to impair aliens with their "flashlight cone killzone insta hit" bite weapon

Well considering that it opens up more of the screen, using it would give you an obvious advantage.
If you don't put the camera in the mouth where exactly do you put it? You wouldn't have any view model if you didn't put it there, and the game would look half finished.
I fully support this idea, I'm a very competitive player. When i see something that i don't need on my screen, i tend to remove it. I would also like this to be implemented with marine weapons.
Now, saying this doesn't mean i hate the idea. I'm not implying that we remove this or anything else you might think of.
I would just love an option (console command) to remove the weapon models / mouth, so i could have an empty screen with a radar, health/ammo , minimap, res indicator and a crosshair.
From my view, have the default option how it currently is. Let the players go out of their way to turn it off. Every one is happy.

played savage2 the other day, they have first person view for range weapons and 3rd person for melee weapons<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
3rd person skulks would be TERRIBLE. Where would the camera be half the time? The wrong place. Atleast in first person, you can't blame the camera and afterwards, the devs for "###### camera code". So, 3rd person would just be out of the question. Its too finicky of a thing to have to deal with patch after patch after patch after ...... you know?
From a competitive standpoint, optionally removing the view model would make the game too easy and not have a whole lot of depth-of-mastery. The whole bitecam is stylistic and challenging, much like a good classic rocket jump in the good ol' days of the Quakes. There's not a lot of purpose doing it, but what it adds far exceeds what it could ever take away. To me, it uniquely defines the Kharaa, and that alone is extremely important.
