For all the bad-mouthing that goes on, I really do believe that this game will be an absolute KNOCK-OUT!
You will need a healthy system to play (with lot of RAM), good reflexes and adaptive thinking!!
This IS Natural Selection.. Invalids need not apply.

Purchasing the game now allows you to become part of the development process and allows your personal feedback about the game to be heard! While NS2 is currently in beta status, there is still much to be done. However, purchasing the beta now will not remove the game later when it's released. Once you've bought the game, you'll have it forever. You'll be supporting UWE and NS2, and you'll be able to play right now! If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

there's like 50 servers online.. no matter what times (pc gaming with dedicated servers ftw!)

if ur talking about actual people playing, the popular servers are full almost 24/7, but regretfully most of the others servers are so crap, noone plays on them. When we get either more powerful servers, or the ns2 dedicated server gets more efficient, I'd say you have around 10-30 servers full at this point. I know I only play when there's a place on hbz open (the best european server) or a gather is running.

You can always get a game though, the moment u join a server, other people will join you.

oh and hbz = heidis something ziegel something, but it's unpronouncable for us mere mortals so it's called hbz by everyone else.

let me give you an example of my first time loading the game up since august or so

i load up the game and join captain acid_rain's server, one of the only 2 servers at the time with players

as i join aliens, the game skips a bit and slows to 30 FPS in spots on my 2500k @ 4.3ghz

the server is running absolutely horribly and can't manage to handle like 14 players, so there is this horrible rubber banding effect seen in the background here

use this information to assist your decision in preordering natural selection 2

Greetings pinksocking,

Don't mind the troll above, he's angry for some unknown reason.

Now for correct statistics about the current state of the game:

Amazing! I get about 60-70 fps on a 2400 @ 3.7 ghz. Hope to see you in game dude!

Cheers,

Server tick rates can define client tick rates. If the server isn't running smoothly, there is a possibility that your client will get limited updates from the server, causing your client framerate to drop.

With build 191, this works much better. I currently don't host my server on a dedicated box, so my server suffers a lot from it. Right now, NS2 dedicated servers need lots of CPU power, and really only work super efficiently on multi-core processors. We're working on getting that resolved as soon as possible, and build 190 was a huge improvement!
