New Down Under Servers

Hello. Right I'm tired of AusServers # 1 and #2 going down.

Does anyone down under have a decent idea of a server hosting outfit which I could conatct?

Never done sucha thing befor but I pledge AUS$240 per month to a competitive business that deals in *stable* servers for contemporary games.

Any ideas forum peeps?

The current version is very unstable for all servers so far as I've noticed, and the Pure's are some of the best.

Either way, the only handles I have are Xtra, Arena, bla bla bla, surely someone knows of a development in the last 10 years?

(Oh, and plural 's' doesn't need an apostrophe, but thanks for the help fellow dude down under)

If it didn't concern Aussie-land I'd say to look into Inversion's practices, but as it stands, I highly doubt you'll find a hoster able to provide 4-5GHz cores (which is what you'd need). Your only shot is to assemble a server of your own and have it hosted in a co-location.

But PureAus' servers are pretty solid, the fact that they may crash has more to do with NS2 than the server itself (Inversion also crashes occasionally).

The server crashes due to a BUG which UWE is aware of and have fixed for the next build. There is nothing wrong with the servers per say.

Any other time the server crashes is generally because endar is trolling people into playing turtle on the other aus pure server.


*edit* As far as i know a quick fix was also applied just then so that the crashes no longer happen.

I agree that we need more aussie servers, i'd like to see the ISP's step up to the plate, but I understand that it's much harder for them to fund the "server" that is required to run a game such as this, no hardware manufacturer could provide it, it would need to be custom made. Soon, when the game steps down in requirements I'm sure Gamearena will be back, and probably a couple more.

And also as stated above, there is currently a bug in B193 that causes the servers to crash, and i have just applied a hotfix which seems to prevent it from happening. I can guarantee that the server itself is rock solid, and not the cause of this problem.
