marine: slowed upon landing when falling quite a distance?

i notice this especially in the central drilling area on mineshaft (the area with 2 ressource-points).
you can just jump/fall down without ANY consequences whatsoever. this does not only seem unrealistic but also negative for gameplay:
leaving jetpack and onos aside, i figure the advantage of marines is that they have ranged attacks whereas the kharaa have improved movement.
so how should this be adressed?
personally, i'd slow the marine down for falling a great heigth. not as extreme as the onos-smash (you should still be able to shoot), but the view could be tilted similar to reload.
there could also be falling damage in terms for realism, but i figure this might be a bit annoying. especially when you run out of jetpack fuel...

I wouldn't apply this to skulks, or lerks because they're very lightweight (akin to cat, bird). Fades just twist space-time continuum to their wills and negate fall damage that way. Maybe onos should take some damage as well, and gorge.
Then again, when players figure out how the skill based movement with skulks work, and if yuuko's fademod's blink mechanic is taken into use globally, and finally when celerity is implemented, aliens will be super super fast. To balance this out maybe marines shouldn't slow down from falls, but just take some damage.
