Skulks Vs Marine (in Vent)

anyone else notice how hard it is to kill a marine in a vent? heres the situation: i find a marine with his back facing me in a vent, i run up to him and start chomping, he turns around and kills me. Ive put about 4 bites into his back and he didnt die... this has happened about every time i find a marine in a vent with his back to me.
is there something wrong with where my bites land or where the marines "hit-boxes" are when he crouches?
or am i the only one having this problem?

I've crept down walls with slience to an unarmoured marine, (crouched in a corner, waiting for a resource node to be dropped so he can build it), and laid 3-4 bites into his head, before he realized I was right above him and shot me dead in 2 seconds.
I've also simply chewed on marine boots to no avail more times than I can count by running up behind them with celerity on and holding down, forward and attack. I should be at least 2x faster than a marine as a skulk with lvl3 celerity, no? So why is this such a problem?
And yes, you can <i>try</i> to bite a 'vented' marine in the **obscenity**, but guess what? That seems to be the ONLY place it works, which means you have to run right at the gun. (And there are <i>some</i> vents where IT DOES NOT WORK.) This bug is even worse, because it seems to carry over to: anywhere on any map, jumping-and-crouching marines, (yay crouching-bunny-hoppers!), jetpackers.
There's obviously some kind of hitbox / hit detec. etc. problem, all we can do is hope it gets fixed soon.

A) HL is cutting corners and not throughly checking every hitbox in order to improse performance.
B) Lag makes the positioning look different to a server so it doesn't register the hit, Because Bite has such a short range.
C) It's not so much the marines hit boxes, but the bite's attack boxes (and Bile Bomb) that's causing the problem, And the problem is especially noticable for crouched marines.
