I killed 3 Onos with the Hatchet in a single game.

Probably the most excitement I've gotten out of the entire 20 or so odd hours I've played NS2.
The Onos guys were PISSED. I kept running and crouching and I dunno if it was a glitch, but even stomp was missing me, I just did circles.
I also chased an Onos as it was trying to flee from my base and axed it to death. Why it didn't turn around, I don't know. During this rampage I also managed to get 2 Skulks with the axe.
Oh man, we still lost, but you should have seen the guys it happened to. They were swearing and go "You still ****ing lost!'
So what?! That was awesome! My entire Team was laughing their asses off. They actually saw me chasing the Onos swinging my hatchet. I wish I had recorded it or something. At one point I jumped on top of our Robotics bay thing and jumped onto an Onos and slashed at his back, of course my Teammates were all firing into him, and they killed him, but for those that where they, they were just laughing at it...
So cool. Still, I don't feel it should take a solid 30 seconds with the axe hitting every time to kill an Onos. I mean damn, Melee weapons are supposed to be hard to use in a game like this, but high damage. Maybe half that.

you mean your comm doesn't beacon you back for hatchet rushes already?? NEWB COMM!!11~`1 hatchet attack 3 is the most overpowered upgrade on the marine tech tree, if you've ever seen a jetpack-hatchet marine make quick work of fades and skulks you'd know.
After "Gorilla" I killed a few Onos with the axe too, as they ran (right at the butt -- they either don't notice or can't tell? Perhaps it's just the Onos size and proximity of the marine right on the Onos' model). Not sure if it was just because I got the lucky last hits in or if the axe does great damage to the Onos. I just saw this post and thought maybe something was going on because I was so surpised I got the kills I did so easily.
I was sure I read that the axe does more damage to structures. I'm not sure how the variables are managed seeing as we have "light" and "heavy" type damage or exactly how armor comes into play. I know shotguns aren't supposed to be as effective on Onos, but I don't know if the axe has any special damage type or scaling for certain game entities.
Shotguns are supposed to be ineffective because they use bullets, and because the Onos is supposed to have a bone shield on his front that reduces or negates damage from bullet sources.
