Authentication failed

Hi Guys,
I have read some other threads with similar issues but I still cant get a fix, basically my friend played NS2 on my pc with his steam account, I saw him play it then bought it myself and installed it on my PC, however when I try to play it now I get the authentication error on every server. As it was being played on my PC before I know it cannot be router, graphics, pc related.

I presume its something to do with steam profiles but I know nothing about this area,

Any help would be much appreciated.

Really because my friend was playing it on here 5 mins ago, I bought it and now cant play, this has literally happened within the last 10 minutes, so unless steam has gone down within the last 5 minutes.

Have the same issue, started as of now, cant find any populated servers either..
