Net-guns or some type of stun gun.

Mhm.

So, perhaps for fast moving skulks, and Lerks, you could have some type of netgun to hog tie them. Then they rapidly click to tear their way out of it. Durability goes up with weapon upgrades. Now you'd have to time the net-gun pretty well to actually get a skulk or Lerk.

Why no Gorge, you ask? For some reason, I don't think a net gun would work on a Gorge. I have no gameplay reason behind, but when I look at him, I just thing "nah"

Wouldn't work on a Fade, cause well, the warping away, could slash the net, ect. Obviously not an Onos.

If not an Onos, some type of stun gun to hit the things with. It would have low damage, but slow them down quite abit. One issue right now is how fast Skulks are. They are super fast, and marine weapons fire super faster...and you require almost the entire clip to kill them usually.

I think it'd be cool to have a 3 man squad, one with LG / HMG, one with Shotgun / Flamethrower, and one with a Netgun or something. It just makes sense, we need -something- to slow Skulks down. For being a tier 1 / early game unit, they are simply TO effective with the hit detection at current. There are times you shoot 4 shotgun shells directly into a Skulk, you ever see the blood splatter, but due to lag compensation...he's not dead, then suddenly runs up and two hit kills you.

I agree that the marines need some form of CC, seems the Kharaa are the only ones getting all forms of CC, would be nice to see some weapon giving the marines an edge aside from range, which 90% of the time that advantage is negated due to the cramped nature of the maps.
Would be nice to see some form of stun gun or another ranged weapon that doesn't necessarily stun as opposed to slow them down, from a storyline perspective one would have thought the marines would have created something to CC the Kharaa to some degree, yet all the marines have so far is a gimped, high-res flamethrower that really isn't much of a threat considering the squishieness of the marines and the speed / power of the kharaa, would be nice to have a weapon that would give even the fade pause before just blinking in, slaughtering a marine, then blinking straight back out with next to zero consequences, an while I'm sure there are quite a few people out there frothing at the mouth, ready to defend the fade to the bitter end, they just don't seem to have much of a worry, but i digress would be nice to see the marine team gain some CC.

Doesn't even have to be a slow, it could possibly be a grenade of sorts that acts as a flash bang, blinding Kharaa only players for 1 - 2 seconds but it requires 20 res to buy and you only have one per player, though I can see that becoming quite overpowered. They could also add a slow effect to an Alien player when they get shot, similar to counter-strike where when you were shot your movement was slowed, it only has to slow the player ever so slightly for it to have great effect against the kharaa, or possibly add a slow effect to the grenades, the splash damage from the impact of a grenade could cause the aliens to loose 20% movement speed momentarily.

There are loads, though I think most of my ideas have a broader effect rather than just aimed specifically at Skulks, that and I have no idea what would happen to the game as whole if the marines were granted some kind of CC effect to a weapon, could break the game entirely.

Sounds like a death sentance for any alien who gets hit.

I'm sure it would be incredibly fun.

AVP 2 had the Netgun and it worked out fun & fine. I used to like to just net people, wait for them to escape and net them again, never killing. It just kind of pissed em off, lol.

Yes but AVP isn't a team oriented game.

Imagine it with the situation you described, you netting the person just to piss them off - except its NS2, so you have your buddies with you. You net, they shoot. Alien dies, no chance.

I would much prefer just plain old nets that you can lay out in the same way you might mines/ns1 web. You know, to catch those pesky bat gangs flapping around the map shooting your RT's.
