What happened to the hit reg?

After playing today what felt like bad hit reg was confirmed when i saw another two people on the server talking about it.

What made me wonder about the hit reg was that 30 bullets into a skulk who was running straight at me wouldnt die and still killed me.....

He ran thru that little gap inbetween crushing machine and the ore extraction i think? anyway he crawled through that with bullets smashing his face and still just came up to me and bite me to death. wtf?

    @Price. He said he played today so it is 197.

    @OP can confirm this. I clearly thit a skulk 4 times with a SG with only 2 or 3 shells not hitting, but that little ###### just chew my legs of. But this only happens for me with higher pings 120-150ms. But with good pings Fades often die on my LMG in 197, what normally was almost impossible pre 197.

    That turned out to be related to some AI-entities (Drifters, ARCs, MACs) that did not have SetLagCompensated(true). So no help in figuring out weird hitregs in player v player combat.

    I killed a skulk last night with 1 sg blast, wasnt even aiming at him.

    Ping is definitely a factor. Skulks on US servers, where I have high ping, suck way more rifle bullets than on EU servers. What I keep doing is that I shoot enough bullets into a skulk that should kill it, and reload instinctively, but then the bugger isn't dead after all.

    its the servers, at the moment NS2 requires ridiculously fast servers, the aussie servers are probably a little bit worse than the inversion ones with hit reg issues. Cant do anything unltil they improve server side performance, or someone gets some nice insanely fast servers.
