How random spawns for teams are always opposite, never very close.
I kinda agree, in SC2 there was this problem and I believe it is solved on a per map basis. Some maps are too slanted when spawns are too close, others are fine.
Honestly, I think we should at least try fixed distance even on Summit. Sure you know where the other team would be based on your own base, but that was the stale (but balanced) gameplay before random spawning. Who knows, it could be a good compromise.
You'd still get a change of location now and then, which helps keep gameplay experience on said map fresh.

::facepalm:: why is this the 2nd thread about random spawns in the week when you dont even have to use the search button to find the thread that has existed for months and has EIGHT PAGES of arguments, its on the main page of general discussion still labeled "Random spawns"???
I find close spawns to produce the best games (when they dont end in rushes, but that is happening less and less to me). Cross spawns make it to easy for marines to deny alien expo.
