Not to mention after he dies he can do it all over again.

On a side note when you're going up against marines hide around the corner then when they're close jump spam around them to them using healspray they will go down rather fast and you won't take nearly as much damage. Atleast until they have and tier 2 armour.

But two or so shotgun shells to the face will kill a gorge.

If it actually manages to get into the base and spams bile bombs everywhere, you're doing something wrong. It's slow and fat and can't move other than by bouncing comically around like a rubber piggy.

Just run up to it and punch it in the face with your shotgun blasts, or fire grenades at it, or kill its energy regen with a flamethrower, or do more or less anything to it other than chase it around in circles not shooting it.

Maybe if the entire alien team went gorge and rushed you at once, I'd buy it, but one gorge? I can't see it working.

I have trouble staying alive with an onos in front of me and another gorge next to me, let alone on my own waltzing into a marine base. I know you CAN healspray marines to death if you get the drop on them and I've done it a few times, but it's not what I'd call a reliable method of attack, nor does it ever last against any sort of group of marines.

I totally agree with OP, bile bomb is ruining the game right now. As Marine comm i just try to be as agressive as poss to avoid that second hive, its like the dark days of the fade all over again. There are many possible solutions and UWE probably just need to try a few in play test.

This is an interesting idea but I know from experience its bloody frustrating planting a cyst or hydra, seeing a marine come round the corner and cant move because of that mobility lag.

Fire rate drop is the most likely solution for sure or just reduce the damage again.

What if it became a stationary charged attack, which can be cancelled at any moment if the gorge wants to move.

Hold attack down for 3 seconds, release, bile bomb flies out.

Let go before then and it has to start again.

It makes sense for a large ball of spit to take more time than the regular spit.

It's really not hard to kill gorges. What's hard is repairing the damage they deal without welders (since bile kills MACs). If I'm not feeling particularly creative in a pub, I'll spend all my pres going gorge life after life and suiciding on marine bases, because you can easily pay for the cost of the lifeform in a hurry (or force half their team to go on the defensive).

I still think when the welder is added the gorge will remain a powerful (and rightfully so), but not wholly game-deciding class. Until then, practice biling and chasing down gorges. You'll still need those skills later :)

Don't stop them like a stick in the mud, just a reduction in mobility should do. Making it stackable would be interesting. Similar to how gorge spit slows marines. The goal should be, the more you bilebomb, the less mobile you become. Also comparable to how spamming jump as a marine reduces your mobility.

This would allow supported gorges to spam bilebombs to wipe out marine bases. "Rambo" gorges would no longer be able to run around marine structures whilst bilebombing, hopefully eliminating this annoying, undesirable, tactic.

I think this is a reasonably elegant solution. Bile Bomb is a siege weapon so it makes sense that the Gorge has to plant his feet while using it. This prevents Gorges from dodging around the base while they disassemble it with bile bombs, and makes it more difficult for them to just peak out around corners as they lob bombs too.

So all you obviously pro marine commander's and marine's who say it's so easy cause you beacon back your team, have never had the problem of running out of energy from scanning for an assault or already beaconing? Really? Never? Have you never had the problem of your marines being at the entrances of your base fighting off a massive push of aliens, while a sneaky gorge pops out of a vent into your base? Really? Never? Do you even play this game much? I think it's more you havent vsed any decent aliens.

The gorges who do the damage usually have hid, positioned, evolved, and waited for the exact moment your back is turned. RAMBO BAM down goes the marine base. These gorges arent dumb you know, in fact it's usually the top guys that do it because they can do it well. But why should one or two 12 res gorge's be able to pull an entire team back in a desperate scramble?

I suggest we try out the "Shoot first, Weld later" tactic once B198 comes out. Kill the Gorge, or if he's too jumpy, weld the important structures while others take care of the chubby troublemaker.

Although, Bile Bomb should be looked at regardless of the Welder being added, for balance's sake.

As I mentioned before gorges can use the camo upgrade to walk outside of the base and bile bomb. The only way to avoid this is stick obs all over the map or active scans around the map outside of the base. Both methods costs to much to do for prelonged periods. They can also use skulks with or without the camo upgrade and climb up to a beam and evolve there. The mine map has a spot in all three marine start points where a skulk can climb up then evolve into a gorge and bilebomb from a very difficult spot to hit.

As for the shotgun yes two will kill a gorge but if you're jumping around them is not as easy as it sounds but the real problem is there normally isn't just one.

I am gonna have to try out more of this condescending attitude that people on these forums seem strong about expressing lately.. it must be necessary to always say someone whines instead of discusses, or that they must suck instead of you just needing to disagree without an argument, other than "NUH UNH!"

ffs some of you people lack social skills...
