lets see if my comp can hang
here we go Black Armour I'm finally trying you on

been hearing good things about ns2 lately

2.6 ghz
2 gb ram
nvidia geforce 6200 128 mb

lets see how I fare....

[edit]
hmmm I can launch the game and hear the music, but the four squares that pop up in the title screen take forever, and I can see the title screen but it gets really dark except for the hanging light deally, can't navigate around the game and I have work in the morning alas
[edit2]
how2launch ns2 windowed? -w and -windowed don't work in launch commands, I can't even see the four squares with the marine face on the left, my understanding is third from the left is the settings menu... But I can't reach it to nerf everything...

delete your local steam files and redownload

edit: but then again.. your hardware, at least your graphics card seems pretty much dated, i dare to say obsolete

I don't know what people expect when they try to play a current gen game on quite dated hardware, that graphics card wasn't much good even when it came out so might be time to upgrade.

I would suggest upgrading you will not enjoy the game it just gets frustrating and rage inducing... well I would lol

you probably will have to turn the graphics settings all the way down in options.xml... not being able to see the flash thing is sometimes due to lack of v-ram.

Yeah, I'd probably get an upgraded video card. 128MB just isn't going to cut it.

Hopefully as UWE gets closer to the the official launch you might be able to run it. With patch 197 I was able to play on good servers with not to much performance loss with my resolution turned down to 1600x900 and the graphics turn down to awful , my specs are quite old as well 2.5 duo core , 2g ram, 9600gt 512 video ram, Your video ram seems to be the biggest shortcoming and is what will most likely hold you back. When the game goes into 1.0 everyone should realistically be able to run this game, otherwise UWE would not be be allowing this game to run on windows XP and DirectX 9.

You cannot launch the game with 2gb of ram.

I had a laptop with 4gb, ns2 worked fine. Then one my ram stick died leaving me with 2gb. I could never launch the game.

also, you need more vram unless you're into dubstep

that 6200 was being used as on board motherboard graphics two years ago, thats how bad it is.
the 6800 line was publicly announced by Nvidia's CEO as the company's "biggest failure".. and on top of that you have the lowest/worst version possible..
this is of course after considering the fact that it was released april 2004, EIGHT YEARS AGO.

your on the low end of the low end, and that was if it was current, which it isnt.
    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lo...pu=GeForce+6200
that is a score of 57.
the 580 gtx, released in 2010, scores 3,939

..what are you doing, with that thing, man?! you cant be playing games with it??

The 6800GT & Ultra were excellent cards, perhaps you're thinking of the 5x00 series preceding them.

still, its not a good card. my last card i upgraded from was a 7600gt and yes, it BARELY ran ns2 on low, but only since build 188, before that it wasnt possible. but i still upgraded away from that card about a year ago, and even then i was way overdue for that upgrade. so yeah, save your monies and get a nice new gpu or even a whole new computer, talk to anyone here (including me) and we can guide you through building it if needed

you are correct. it was the 5800 line that was a failure, i remember now. still, my point and those stats still remains.

I just checked, it looks like your computer would be great for Microsoft Office.

    Have you checked that out?
