Shadow Problem

I have noticed that in the last two builds the shadows in game are flickering and moving around a lot for me. Mostly on the marine model but also on structures and parts of the scenery such as walls. Is anyone else having this problem? Any fix or a known issue?

Can you post a screenshot or video of the problem? Also, you can always disable them with r_shadows false if it becomes too bothersome.

Do you run SLI or crossfire?

i am having the same issue, i cant post a screenshot since that issue only appears sometimes, and only if i move around. it could happen when a hive gets dropped in a dark room or similar. when i am moving around the shadows flicker, when i stand still i end up with or without shadows, depending on the perspective. i am running a single 7970, latest driver. i try to record a game and post a link

oh, the recording quality is very bad, i should have used fraps, but its enough to give you an idea what is happening. i think it is not really shadow flickering, but the lightsources , or rather the lit faces flickering when moving around.
happens on maximum and every other setting. running ns2 at stellar framerates, cant complain about performance, just that flickering that happens sometimes. after alt tabbing its gone again, but the light brightening up the surrounding is gone as well, stays gone, until mapchange.

I also get this. In a hive room the light from the hive is switching itself off and on with a sort of strobe effect. This is not the shadow problem I have though. I don't have two cards so its not that and screenshots wont show it. The shadows flicker and move about as if they are not sure when or were to render. There is patches of shadows on walls doing the same thing. Only happens in NS2 so is not a problem with my machine.

i know it says for crossfire, but i had that issue as well even before i got my second card, so maybe this will work cause i dont have flickering shadows anymore

im using it since it got released, it does not work to fix my problem

I have a Nvidia card so this does not apply to me. I don't run Sli anyway so I am guessing its a driver problem?

Have you tried running in windowed mode? Works for me.

Tried that cheers and it doesn't make a difference. Don't like the windowed mode anyway with the border.

try turning off Catalyst AI and using anisotropic filtering set to application preference.

I have an Nvidia card. I have tried all the different AA and AF settings and still get the flickering. Just asked a friend of mine with a similar card and he gets the shadow thing too and the strobe/flashing effect around hives at times.
