[Idea]Arcs can go through Phasegates

<div class="IPBDescription">Phasegate Arc rushes</div>Arcs are not often used at the moment cause they are so slow and hard to protect from these fast aliens.
How about the idea that Arcs can go trough phasegates ?

Imagine an endgame where Marines are cought on 1 techpoint and aliens are constantly pushing and the commander has still a lot arcs.

An good jetpacker can goto the main hive and gets the power up and commander gives him the phasegate well since all aliens hammering the last marine techpoint the marines could counter that well with macs and arcs go trough and start sieging the hive.

thats not the only option you can have from that. ;)

In case of all say OP:
Well the alien commander should be able to prefent that pretty good with whips infestion all over or hydras.
In future patches the shift aliens might bring aliens back to the mainhive like they did with movment chambers on ns1 (if they work like that).

I think its an good way to see arcs more often.

I don't know if I can approve of this idea. It sounds cool, but it will cause a lot of grieve.
The reason the arc is so slow in the first place is it's power.

Personally I think arcs need a longer range. But that is it, their speed is intentional.

I think Arcs need to be slow considering their power. Being able to just phase them in potentially right next to an alien base would be unbalanced. They should be a reward for the commander who takes the time to escort/sneak them in and a punishment for aliens failing to stop it.

^-- that is it. An Arc does 1800DMG all 10s to structures (900 base and 2x multi for structural damage, if a com could phase an ARC near a hive, f.e. 4, they would deal 7200DMG all 10s so any def,rt,egg, hive is dead in 20s.

If you wan't an ARC at the front but not to move em around the map just build a robo at front.

1build ago I would agree, but with the new DMG it would be a bad idea.

disagree, because arcs can already move(in ns1 it was just static a siege.)...they are already extreme powerful.

My idea would be to have robo factory cheaper(10 res) and allow arcs to build from it right away. Turrets and mac's could require research to prevent them to come to early.

This will allow commanders to drop forward robot factor for sieges and bring arc earlier into the game.
If this is added however then arc should not be as powerful early game as they are now. To fix that problem the commander could have arc upgrades such as more range, more speed and maybe more hp/damage. Bringing it to full power later in the game.

I think its too big to fit through a PG, and the ability to use it would be too useful. Already setting up a PG near the hive allows marines to rapidly deploy a minor base, a situation which is very hard to counter for aliens as they spread themselves all over the map.

Giving them arcs instantly too would make hive defense even more impossible.

I like the idea, ARC should get more use.

I think the anti posts come from peeps who don't play Marine enough.

It is so hard to setup and then keep a PG close to the aliens, getting an ARC through it would be a good reward for such a tough challenge.

To be truly close, the Marines also have to take down the infestation first, the whole task is far harder to actually do than the anti posts give it credit for.

I just played a game where the marine comm built 4 arcs and sent them in at once, so they are being used.

instead of wasting your time and resources, jeopardizing the game, the com simply could have forced his way in with arcs in the first place.

I guess I just haven't seen the ARC really do it's stuff, shotgun rush seems to get there first.

Strap a jetpack to an ARC and it's insta-win.

A decent team, umbra and a gorge or another backed by the new DCs (i dont really know the names yet, sorry) should do the job.
A properly fortified ARC station too.

It seems artificial to me that ARCs can't go through phase gates. Couldn't we try to balance it?

By what? transporting an arc piece by piece and having to reassamble it on location?
"Where did the tracks go?" "Have you seen the generator?"

Seriously, I'd rather drive them twice through the map instead.
