The guy says "this is an indie game O_O" basically saying, "can you guys believe that an indie game can look this good?" saying that is "deceptive" is a stretch and a pointless one at that. Plus this is Reddit we are talking about, Reddit is fueled by sensationalism, there is no such thing as "normal" posts because the ones that are more sensational will always block them out.
So yes it is an advantage, one that you have to use in order to even be on par with the rest of it. You really don't understand how this works. And you are QQing about nothing just for the sake of QQing.

look at this guy, expecting reddit to be full of substantial content.
That title is far from sensational or deceptive. It sums up what crosses my mind every time I fire up the game. It blows my mind that Unknown Worlds has been able to put out a game of this complexity with their resources. I can name on one hand the number of indie studios that come anywhere close. Go look at Unknown Worlds "about" page, and then go look at the credits for any other game you've played. Other games are going to have like 10 times the number of people working on them.

I think the bigger problem is that now we have to deal with 'reddit culture' in this game. Look forward to lots of stupid catchphrases and bandwagoning!
Here is <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/qgp6n/charlie_cleveland_cofounder_of_indie_game_company/" target="_blank">Charlie's AmA</a>
Not sure if it was posted somewhere other than twitter and i didnt want to make yet another thread. Below is one post by Charlie i really appreciated since i know a lot of us have been around since even before the Alpha with our suggestions and "helpful" comments lol.
AUTOGRADER posted:
"Did you ever feel worried that having an OPEN(ish) beta so early in the development process for NS2 would negatively impact how the game is received? Has the feedback you've received been helpful?"
Charlie's response:
"Nope. We want to make sure we're making a sequel that is faithful to the original. We've made some bad decisions that we've reversed since even before the beta (we started getting feedback in 2009) and I'm SO glad. The feedback is tremendous. Everything from making sure it runs on all different systems to changing alien abilities, guiding the alien commander role, and staying focused on the things that people really want (performance, control, expressivity). We don't do everything our community tells us, but it's a guide. Sometimes someone says something on our forums and a light goes on and we immediately make that change. Other times we have to look to see WHY they're saying it, but the solution they propose is totally wrong."

Yeah, Charlie said in the AMA he started earlier that between the 'Gorilla' release and hitting the front page of reddit they have had a massive jump in sales.
For anyone who hasnt seen it yet: <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/qgp6n/charlie_cleveland_cofounder_of_indie_game_company/" target="_blank">http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/qgp6...e_game_company/</a>
Charlie has gone to bed for a few hours but did say he would be back to answer more questions later today.
Zimbu the monkey, how on earth is this being dishonest? I don't mean this to be a personal attack, but you have to be very naive if you consider the title 'dishonest'.
This is an Indie title, and it is very impressive for an Indie title. That is pretty much all there is to it. It even links to a video so people can judge for themselves.
It wasn't even posted by the devs...
If you are getting rattled by this, god knows what your reaction is when you leave your door every morning - because you'll pass 100s of people and businesses that are a lot worse than this!
Just be happy that a honest hard working and awesome team are wreaking the rewards - and in turn, giving the devs more money/time to improve the game.
New player here thanks to reddit! I saw the trailer and immediately dug out my debit card and got myself a copy! Always happy to help indie developers and i cant wait to get playing, The game looks amazing.

Good to have you dsl, i hope you have a new-ish comp to run this great game! You may want to check out NS1 also (i know it's old) but a lot of the direction of this game comes directly from that (sequels tend too i guess lol). Might give you a better picture of what the final product will be =)
Jesus, Zimbu the monkey. Just because you personally were upset by some perceived 'dishonesty' it doesn't mean any dishonesty has taken place. The fact that you're offended by the wording on a reddit thread of all things means you should probably take a deep breath and maybe get over yourself a little bit.

Nice to see so much people playing, very different from a few builds ago !
I'm a bit worried about the tickrates though, if there is a huge influx of players and the servers quality don't scale well, the proportion of players that experience horrible lag will increase and that might feedback negatively in the future. So let's hope there is not SO much new players.
