Client Server Different

My two friends keep getting this error that says "Client Server Different" when they try to join any game. They're both up to date, they have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and still get the same end result.

Anybody know what we can do to remedy this or what the problem may be ? so this doesn't happen to future players that purchase the game.

Get a copy of the log file from %appdata\natural selection 2\log.txt and check what build the game is. You can also launch the game and look in the top left corner.

What server are you trying to join? If you are attempting to join a server which is running a mod (such as marine v marine or proving grounds) then you will also get this error. Normally the mod is in the server name, but thats no guarantee try a few servers.

And by uninstalled the game, you mean deleted the natural selection 2 folder (from steamapps/common/natural selection2) or something else? If not try that.

Also this should probably be moved to tech support forum.

Maybe try verifying integrity of game files via steam?
