Marine melee weapons

Should marines get some additional researchable melee weapons? I think it could be fun to have some melee weapons as marine - these would be very risky to use but may also be worth it.

EXAMPLE:
Some kind of laser sword (not the starwars style)/cutter which onehits skulks, but also comes at a cost of ~15PRes (essentially a shotgun with point-blank range :P). Such thing would allow for intresting combations (eg GL + Melee, 40 PRES), but would also have a high penality if you die (after all, 40 PRES is a lot, even if you can get the GL back you'd still loose 15 PRES).

I don't think marines needs any more melee ability's. Aliens are made for close up combat and marines are for long ranged. Giving the marines a one hit kill melee weapon (your example) would make parasite more viable at killing marines then bite as a skulk.
So no. No researchable melee weapons. They already got: switch-axe, rifle butt and welder and that is almost one too much. However it would be cool to equip a 40k like war hammer >:D

I'm with Broseidon on this, if it were up to me the damage would even be reduced on the riflebutt, mostly used for knockback that way. Needs to be more dependable in terms of knockback fist though...

also I think axe dmg against lifeforms should be reduced. :D I am getting meeled to often. I have no numbers to proof this statement, but I have the felling axe dmg > bite dmg, which should not happen.

    That's not true :P
I'm pretty sure it requires 4 swings with the axe to kill a skulk.
I will agree with Broseidon on this one as well, no more need for marine melee weapons, they already have too much power in that area.
