Running the map

<div class="IPBDescription">How do I get into the game?</div>Hey everyone, I probably asked the same question last summer, but how do I launch a map, and what folder/directory should I put the map files in? And do I need other entities than <i>ready_room_start</i> to just to run around in my boxed map? :)

I remember I made a shortcut that launched my last test map automatically, but I cant remember how I set that up or where I read how to do it. I looked in the ns2wiki but couldnt find it :(

    Put the map into the maps folder - ns2/maps and start the game, bring down the console and type "map ns2_mapname" (without the quotes).

    The readyroomstart entity will spawn you into the ready room.

    2 tech points, gamerules, pathing settings, (commander camera if you want to be able to see your map as commander)

    ok, i tried to run my map with only a ready_room_start entity and it failed to load and crashed, but the sample map worked. Do I need to add techpoints and game rules to avoid a crash, or did i mess something up?

    This is replied to multiple times in the forum, but here it is again..

    2TP, 2RT, 1 RR start, 1 ns2_gamerules.

    This will enable you to base test your map layout boxes etc, but note, trying to go into commander mode will crash you. You need minimap extents, pathing settings, commander camera's and overview before you think of trying to get in the chair :)<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
