Pressing 'Install' exits Steam

Yes I just punched in my key on Steam and got NS2 on my list of games, but when I try to install the game Steam just exits and closes itself down. Quite upsetting really.

I've searched for answers on this forum and on google, but cant find any similar case.
It may be worth adding that I registered the game to a Steam account that only has a Dota2 beta associated with it.

I hope you wont tell me to piss off to Steam support forum :-)

Please help me install the game!

ps. NS rules

Never heard of that happening before. Try installing another game, TF2 is free so you should be able to at least start the install of that game.

    Excellent idea.
And you are right. I just tried to Install a different game and the same thing happens -> Steam window closes -> Steam shuts down. I guess the problem has nothing to do with NS2 after all. I would still appreciate any further advice on the matter though if you guys are able.

    Thanks

Due to the nature of steams portability, I'd just download it again, and setup a new instance. I dont know specifically for dota2, but i think you should be able to just cut and paste the dota2 from your old steam install to your new one.

Also take a look in your windows event viewer (type eventvwr in a run box).

edit: Also for fun, delete clientregistry.blob from your steam folder.

I just tried Installing games on my main Steam account and it works fine.
So is it possible to re-associate my NS2 key with my main Steam account? That is, to transfer the game from one account to another? I hope this is alright since I just bought the game and haven't even played it yet.

    Thanks for the tips.
For some reason the service of event viewer is disabled and it wont let me turn it on - gives me a bad excuse just like my girlfriend (Error 4201). And since I can Install games just fine with my other account, I dont think the problem is about corrupted steam files. I have of course deleted, renamed and blamed clientregistry.blob so much now that it's starting to wear make-up and cut itself.

I really think that a simple game transfer is the easiest solution now. Surprise me if you want.
    Thanks a lot.

It's impossible to transfer keys from one Steam account to another. This is the wrong place to ask for help anyway as this is a Steam problem. Contact Steam support.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
Maybe you could refund my key so that I may purchase a new one for my other account where the game is able to install.

I'm just a regular poster here. No idea if UWE will do that.

If you are having issues and want to change the account your key is associated to, add all the details to an email and send it to store@unknownworlds.com They should be able to assist you.
