<div class="IPBDescription">i lurve it to pieces</div>the old one got pretty old, and it even made me fall asleep once.. the new one is pretty sweet. thanks uwe , just a bit short, but a welcome change, and now i just got to play it ^^
Love the new feel of the commander menu on marines, game also feels smoother overall. Heck, I can actually put it on high settings now, where my rig belongs.
Yes, sorry about the loop. We still need to get the final file from the music composer, as the version he sent us some time ago cuts off abruptly like that. We were going to put a fade out on it, to make it less jarring, but didn't want to mess anything up last minute with the patch, so left it as is for now. Should be better next patch.
[Edit - actually, it looks like we do have the full version of the track, which is a full minute longer then the version that is currently in there. Should be able to get that put into the game for the next patch.]

I couldn't say it's bad, but it's not got a particularly distinct style, just generic "epic feel" music. It's like the difference between John Williams' movie music (Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc) and, well, the rest. The new music would fall under "the rest".

Question for Cory, or any of the Dev's that know, I'm not sure if this has been answered already, but will NS2 have full length tracks? (With music playing throughout the entire round) Or quick bits (Like NS1) that play at the beginning of the round?
I really liked the previous theme, the part of where the clock starts ticking was just so suitable for the loading screen. I hope it makes a return in some form, maybe Ready Room or similar. But the new one just feels epic, so that's fine, but as said before it lacks punch.

Thanks for the quick response. I really like the new music, the original NS1 gave a bit of a suspenseful feeling, since it was the Marines first encounter with an alien race (Presumably). The new music feels like they are ready and know what is coming.
Srry, but the new theme is...not that special imo. I used to dream at the screen with the old one, it had that feeling of the Alien movies, while this one is more Halo/StarWars....and I dont think thats what the game is about.
Unless your planning a huge new update.
The old menu music was superior, dreamy and nightmarish at the same time. Pure genius.
Maybe make them rotate on startup next build?
And I get that you want to get pumped...but allot of people that play the game dont storm into combat the minute they are in the server. (some do offcourse...)

edit:
The loop is not really looping smoothly... :/

Edit: Cory beat me to it.

YESH!
+1
extended version of the main menu song ?
after seeing that video, i feel a bit nostalgic of that time when nothing worked :p

Also, what happened to the background animation from pre 199?
But the new one just feels epic, so that's fine, but as said before it lacks punch.

Anyway, I loved that theme. Got me cranked every time. Especially when it breaks into the melody at 1.07.

Obviously not suitable for NS2, but was good 'generic music'.
